About

This manmade lake covers over 900 acres and is the largest in Wales. Its shoreline of some 14 miles (22.5 km) makes it ideal for biking, walking and horse riding around the lake. There's also a waterskiing centre. The Alwen Trail is a waymarked, circular route around the reservoir which follows forestry tracks and paths along the water’s edge and upto the moorland of Mynydd Hiraethog for 7.5 miles (11 km). Fishing permits and other visitor facilities are available at the nearby Llyn Brenig Visitor Centre.
