Capel Curig
Capel Curig is a small mountain village with a big reputation. Set at the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia), it’s surrounded by some of the most dramatic landscapes in the UK -making it a favourite base for walkers, climbers and outdoor enthusiasts.
The village sits at a meeting point of two famous routes. Head north‑west and you’ll reach the rugged peaks of the Glyderau and Carneddau, with Tryfan rising above Llyn Ogwen. Travel south‑east and you arrive at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and the iconic Llanberis Pass, an area steeped in mountaineering history.
Capel Curig is also close to the twin lakes of Llynnau Mymbyr, offering one of the most celebrated views in Wales: the Snowdon Horseshoe reflected in still waters.
It’s no surprise that the village is home to Plas y Brenin – the National Outdoor Centre, offering courses and adventures for everyone from beginners and families to experienced mountaineers.
