Latest changes to restrictions

Restrictions have changed in Wales, and from 12 April 2021 we can welcome visitors from the rest of the United Kingdom. You can find out more on the latest restrictions for residents here.

I live in Wales, can I go on holiday in Wales?

Yes. Welsh residents can now travel within Wales and stay in self-contained accommodation with their own household and / or support bubble. Self-contained holiday accommodation, including hotels with en-suite facilities and room service, will be able to reopen for Welsh residents from Saturday 27^th March 2021.

I do not live in Wales, can I travel to Wales for a holiday or to visit family and friends?

From 12^th April 2021, we are able to welcome back visitors from the rest of the United Kingdom and Common Travel Area to enjoy a holiday with members of their own household and / or support bubble. The Common Travel Area means the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, and the Republic of Ireland.

A ban on international travel remains in place with travel only permitted in limited circumstances. More information about international travel can be found here.

Are cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars able to open?

At the moment, these premises are allowed to open for takeaway services only. Food and drink may not be consumed at the premises. Alcoholic drinks cannot be sold between 10pm and 6am.

Physical distancing measures must be applied, and customers and staff are required to wear a face covering.

If Covid cases remain low, we hope to be able to open outdoor hospitality from 26^th April 2021.

Which attractions are open?

All indoor attractions must remain closed for the time being.

A limited number of outdoor areas such as historic places and gardens can start to open from Monday 29^th March 2021. Please check the websites of the attractions which you wish to visit before travelling.

If Covid cases remain low, we hope to be able to open all outdoor attractions from 26^th April 2021.

Which car parks are open?

All Conwy County Borough Council (CCBC) managed car parks are open with pay and display. You can pay by cash or card at the machine (including contactless). Pay machines will be cleaned regularly. You can use your phone to pay for parking at all our car parks and on-street parking. No cash or contact needed. Extend your stay at long stay car parks. Get a reminder before your parking runs out. Look around before you get out of your vehicle, so you can keep 2m away from other people.

Are face coverings mandatory?

Yes. Face coverings are required in Wales in all indoor public places including shops, shopping centres and places of worship.

Which public toilets are open?

You will need to stick to social distancing and wash your hands well. Please follow the signs which will tell you where to wait and which way to walk. Some urinals, sinks and cubicles will be closed off – please do not try to use them.

Are Tourist Information Centres open?

Yes. Both our Conwy Tourist Information Centre and Llandudno Tourist Information Centre are now open. You can pop in to buy local produce and Welsh gifts, or ask our team for advice on what to see and do whilst you're in the area.

I am no longer travelling on my planned trip to Conwy County. Can I get a refund on my accommodation and attraction tickets?

If you have made a booking with accommodation providers, attractions or activity providers, then please liaise with the businesses directly regarding your booking.

We’d like to thank everyone who has supported our businesses during this challenging time by postponing their booking instead of cancelling. However, if you would prefer a refund, then please contact the businesses directly to discuss.   

I have tickets to an upcoming event in Conwy County, will it still be going ahead?

We are working hard to ensure our “what’s on” section is kept up to date in line with any new information we receive with regards to cancellations / postponements of events. If the event you have a ticket for has been cancelled, please contact the event organiser directly to discuss postponing your ticket and / or a refund.

Are there any changes to transport in Conwy County?

Transport For Wales is currently running a different timetable due to reduced demand. They continue to run a reduced service compared to pre-pandemic levels with some services not stopping at stations with short platform lengths. You must wear a face covering on public transport and put it on before travelling unless you’re exempt. More information can be found on the Transport For Wales website.

Arriva in Wales is operating its normal bus timetable and encouraging passengers to use contactless payments to avoid the handling of cash. You can find full details of your service in the new Arriva UK Bus app which is free to download from the app store. Alternatively, you can use the brand new journey planner here.

Llew Jones buses is encouraging passengers to pay via contactless payments. However, if you would prefer to pay cash then only correct change will be accepted. To see their full timetable, please click here.
