We like to stir things up by serving a fizzy mix of contemporary art and family entertainment, seriously good painting and high comedy, big-name productions, blockbuster cinema and a full programme of festivals and events.

Can you blame them?

The name says it all – it’s North Wales’s top theatre complex, a versatile, strikingly designed seafront venue offering non-stop entertainment ranging from opera to alternative comedy, dance to drama, live bands to good old-fashioned panto.

Theatr Colwyn, reputedly Wales’s oldest working theatre, also stages a wide range of productions.

It’s certainly Wales’s oldest cinema, dating from 1909 – and one of the most go-ahead too, having gone fully digital (its patron, Colwyn Bay-born Terry Jones of Monty Python fame, is a big fan of the place).

Also bang up to date is the nine-screen Cineworld multiplex at Llandudno Junction, another firm favourite that attracts big audiences.

Arts fans will find galleries everywhere.

They won’t want to miss venues like M ostyn Gallery in Llandudno, Wales’s leading gallery of contemporary art, or the Royal Cambrian Academy at Conwy dedicated to artists living and working in Wales.

Ffin y Parc Gallery, in Llandudno, is one of Wales’s most exciting commercial fine art galleries, while grassroots local art is displayed in a professional setting at Colwyn Bay’s Community Gallery.
