With cosy hideaways, delicious cuisine, stunning scenery and starry skies, we have all the ingredients for a magical getaway, just for two.

Thanks to our dreamy castles and long, lovely beaches, there’s always a hint of romance in the air in Conwy County. In winter and the beginning of spring, the season for early sunsets, twinkling lanterns and crackling fireplaces invite you inside after your outdoor adventures. It’s the perfect time to snuggle up and get cosy.

What’s more, we have not one romantic festival in our winter calendar, but two – first Santes Dwynwen on January 25 (Saint Dwynwen’s Day, which celebrates the Welsh patron saint of lovers), then Saint Valentine’s Day, on February 14.

Whatever time of year you visit, there are always lots of lovely things to do. Llandudno and Colwyn Bay, with their characterful gift and craft shops and contemporary art galleries, are enjoyable places to wander, with shows to catch in the evenings.

The Wales Coast Path and the many miles of inland trails are great for long walks, chatting as you go. There are exciting activities to try, such as mountain biking and ziplining, and you’ll find scenery to set your hearts racing in Conwy’s ancient forests, soothing lakes and gushing waterfalls. Come nightfall, if the skies are clear, you may even spot a shooting star.

Where to stay

Everyone has their own idea of what makes a place to stay romantic. For some, it’s luxurious surroundings, excellent food and superb service; for others it’s simplicity, peace and quiet. Whatever your taste, you’ll find a wealth of options among Conwy’s hotels, guesthouses, B&Bs, cottages and self-catering pads. Click here to find out more.

Where to eat and drink

While there’s no shortage of cute cafes and welcoming pubs in Conwy County, for something extra special, you could book a Whisky Masterclass at Penderyn Distillery in Llandudno, or reserve a table at one of our very best restaurants. Celebrity chef Bryn Williams’ bistro, Bryn Williams at Porth Eirias, offers delicious seafood lunches with sparkling sea views, while Jackdaw on Conwy High Street and Signatures at Aberconwy Resort & Spa both serve the finest Modern Welsh cuisine, elegantly presented.
