About

The Snowdonia Society looks after The Ugly House. Who built the house, and when, remains a mystery. Home to a fabulous tearoom with a natural garden cared for by a group of volunteers.

Within The Ugly House, itself a nice stone cottage, is the Honey Pot Tearoom. Making homemade food using local ingredients, the tearoom is popular with locals and tourists. Enjoy homemade Bara Brith, in a traditional Welsh cottage. To burn off the calories, explore the wildlife garden and woodland that surround the House.

The wildlife gardens and woodland are open throughout the year. However, The Honey Pot Tearoom closes from the end of October to March. You can contact the Honey Pot Tearoom by calling 01492 642322.

The main reason for volunteers at The Ugly House is to care for nature, in particularly, the honeybee. As you walk in the woodland, you will come across many beehives. To help the volunteers work, bee-friendly plants are there to buy.
